# Carly Rae Jepsen dropped 24 songs. Pick a side.

Day and Night, out September 18, is Carly Rae Jepsen’s first double album: a 12-track Day side of live-instrument pop and a 12-track Night side built for the club. The ranking posts started immediately.

The eighth CRJ album arrived Friday via Schoolboy/Interscope, split cleanly in half. Day leans organic, with folk roots, a bit of psych rock and bossa nova. Night is uptempo dance-pop that NME’s September 15 review hears somewhere between ABBA and Kylie Minogue.

Why it’s everywhere: Carly Rae Jepsen is one of the internet’s most beloved pop stars, the kind whose deep cuts get treated like hits. Twenty-four new songs at once means a weekend of “Day or Night” debates, hot takes on which half is better, and at least one friend who has already made the playlist.

It landed on a stacked Friday. Exclaim’s September 18 release list also has beabadoobee’s Pylon, Beck, and Miley’s Bass Persuades, so if your group chat is arguing about albums, this is why.

**Okay but settle this:** Day side or Night side: who in your group chat is actually the night person?
