# Patient Zero is out, and it brought an Encore.

Taylor Swift's Patient Zero arrived September 25 as the lead single from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded version of her 2025 album with four new tracks. It is not a brand-new album.

Official Charts' September 25 New Music Friday roundup describes The Encore as an expansion of Swift's twelfth studio album, which came out almost a year ago. Earlier in the week the dark covers and zero-for-O lettering had fans guessing about a whole new era.

So the answer to the theory is: new songs, same album world. The next clue drop is visual. Yahoo's VMAs guide says Swift receives the new Artist Director Honors on Sunday, so expect the conversation to move from the audio to the video.

**Okay but settle this:** Four new songs on an old album: is an Encore a real new era or a bonus round? Make your case.
